Feed Sacks Exhibit: Gallery Walks with curator Linzee McCray
Linzee Kull McCray, author of Feed Sacks: The Colourful History of a Frugal Fabric (published by UPPERCASE) and curator of our current exhibit, will be at the Iowa Quilt Museum Saturday, March 17th. Using her research for the book as a starting place, Linzee created an exceptional exhibit that features quilts (and other articles) made from feed sack fabrics. Throughout the day on March 17th, Linzee will share the story of this exhibit with museum visitors through gallery walks, short presentations, and informal discussions. Owners of many of the pieces in the exhibit will also be on hand to visit with guests about their items on display. If you have feed sacks, feed sack clothing, or feed sack quilts and would like more information about your treasures, bring them along March 17th and see if our collectors can tell you more about them. (Remember, these are informal conversations and not appraisals!) The all-day event is free with regular IQM admission ($6).
The Feed Sack Quilts Exhibit is on display at the Iowa Quilt Museum in Winterset through Sunday, April 15th. Current hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10-4 and Sundays 12-4. www.IowaQuiltMuseum.org
