Indigo Dyeing

Explore the plant science magic of indigo with fiber artist, Maggie Howe. Indigo is a plant dye used to create beautiful blue colors. Learn the history of indigo and the science of vat dyes and watch a demonstration. Create your own custom indigo-dyed silk scarf and cotton handkerchief (provided). Participants are also invited to bring an additional item to dye (article of clothing, fiber, or fabric). Don't forget to bring a snack and beverage for an afternoon of fun! Minimum of four students needed to hold the workshop.
