Ages 15+ The Winterset Art Center Clay Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the evening. Participants of this workshop may come to the art center ceramic studio at that time to glaze their pieces. Our goal is to have everyone's art work fired and ready for pick up by late October. Kathryn Baczeski - http://kathrynagnesbaczeski.com/ Kathryn Agnes Baczeski is a visual artist working with raw clays, digital media and animals. She received her BFA in Sculpture with a concentration in Ceramics from the University of Connecticut and earned her MFA from Indiana University in Bloomington. She is currently a resident at The Iowa Ceramic Center in Cedar Rapids Iowa and short-term visiting artist coordinator. Artist Statement - My process of creating is in constant flux throughout the entire cycle of my practice. The most effective way that I have found of releasing control of my work, is through collaboration, including collaborating with a horse’s ass! Themes of my work begin with who or what I will be collaborating with. Here in Iowa, I have found inspiration in working with local farmers, reclaimed materials, livestock, and the soft rolling prairies found in the rural. Working with animals has allowed me to get back in touch with simple movements and nonverbal communication. Allowing my actions to speak for themselves no matter how simple and subtle.
