Madison County Pasture Walk
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting a pasture walk on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held at 2974 120th Street Van Meter, Iowa. The meeting location is across the road from this address (on the north side of the road). The entrance is at the double red gates. This event is for anyone interested in learning more about pasture management and cattle grazing.
ISU Extension and Outreach Beef Specialist Chris Clark and Field Agronomist Meaghan Anderson will discuss rotational grazing, weed control, water sources, and other production topics. There may also be opportunity to practice a little bit with plant species identification and evaluation of pasture condition.
“As we navigate through this challenging year, we are excited to offer some face-to-face programming,” said Chris Clark. “The program will be outside and will allow physical distancing, hopefully making this a pretty safe event. We will also limit the audience size and ask that participants evaluate their personal health prior to attending.” Participants should not attend if they do not feel well, have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the workshop.
This event is free and open to the public, but the number of attendees will be limited due to COVID-19. Please pre-register by noon on September 29 by calling Lisa at Madison County Extension Office at (515) 462-1001.
We are prioritizing the health and safety of Iowans and are following the most current federal, state, local, and university COVID-19 guidelines. Visit Open for Iowa to learn our protocols to keep Iowans healthy and safe. Participants are strongly encouraged to wear a cloth face covering when in the presence of others and unable to maintain a six-foot physical distance.
